This Privacy Policy is intended to inform you about how Better World treats (i) personal data that you may provide, or that is collected, as a result of your use of this website, including your use of our platform, and (ii) personal data that we process in the course of our business to provide our services to our customers.

Better World's services and this website are not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

2. What data we collect about you and how we collect it

A. DATA COLLECTED THROUGH OUR WEBSITE

When you visit our website, and in particular when you connect to our platform, we may collect, use, store and transfer various types of personal data about you, which we have grouped into the following categories:

  • Identification Data including first name, last name, usernames or other similar identifiers. 
  • Contact Data including billing address, shipping address, email address and telephone numbers.
  • Technical Data includes your Internet Protocol (IP) address, login information, web browser type and version, time zone setting and location, web browser plug-in types and versions, operating system, and information about other technologies and devices you use to access this website.
  • Profile Data including your username and password, purchases or orders you have made, interests, preferences, opinions and survey responses.

1. Direct Interactions - You may provide us with your Identification and Contact Data by filling out forms or by communicating with us by mail, telephone, email or otherwise. This also includes Personal Data that you provide when:

  • you request our products or services;
  • you create an account on our website;
  • you subscribe to our service or publications;
  • you give us your opinion or you contact us. 

2. Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies - When you interact with our website, we automatically collect Technical Data about your equipment, actions and online browsing habits. B. DATA COLLECTED TO PROVIDE OUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

  • Third Party or Publicly Available Sources. Better World uses an automated software tool to search for and download information from publicly available sources on the Internet and from our customers, primarily with respect to consumer goods and services and generally in the form of customer reviews posted on public forums and online discussion boards. These reviews are mostly completely anonymous and the person who wrote them cannot be identified. Occasionally, however, these reviews may contain personally identifiable information that an individual has chosen to make public. Better World makes no attempt to identify these individuals. 
  • Customer Data. If your employer is a Better World customer, your personal information, such as your name and email address, may have been provided to us to enable us to create an account on your behalf.

Content hosted on Better World websites is accessible to registered customers and their employees and any person designated by the customer. 

The personal data described above is processed in order to make our website and products and services available to authorized users and to provide marketing and promotional communications as described in the "Why we process your personal data" section of this Privacy Policy.

3. Why do we process your personal data?

A. CONDUCTING OUR BUSINESS AND PROVIDING OUR SERVICES TO OUR CLIENTS

Information collected by Better World from publicly available sources and from our customers (see Section 2. B above) is aggregated and analyzed for purposes of classification, statistical analysis and sentiment analysis for the benefit of our customer who has a legitimate interest in knowing what consumers or users think about its products and services. 

Upon termination of the contract with its customer, Better World will only retain aggregated data for future statistical use and for the production of anonymousbenchmarks in its business for other customers. In this case, the data retained and used by Better World is anonymous and no re-identification of the corresponding data subject is possible.

B. NOTIFICATIONS

As part of Better World's service offering, we may use Contact Data to send notifications in the form of ongoing updates of information we provide to our customers. The use of your Personal Data to send these notifications is necessary for Better World's legitimate interest in keeping our customers informed of ongoing updates that may be of interest to them.  

C. MARKETING 

Better World may use the personal data you provide to us and that we collect from you for our legitimate interest in informing you about similar products and services that we provide or that are offered by our third party partners. We will collect your consent for this purpose whenever required by law. We may contact you by mail, email, telephone, direct messaging, depending on your marketing preferences. We will not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes unless you have given your consent, and you may opt out of receiving marketing communications from Better World at any time.

4. Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

We use cookies to monitor engagement on our websites to understand how users interact with our content and to improve the usability and functionality of our sites. We may also use the data generated by cookies and similar tracking technologies (trackers) to conduct marketing operations. 

Better World websites use the following types of cookies:

5. Who do we share your personal data with?

We may share your personal data with our customers who want to know what consumers or users think about their products and services. In particular, we may share edited consumer or user reviews (see Section 2.B above) with our registered customers, but Better World does not share any usernames, nicknames or other personal data unless that information has been added to the content of the user review. Better World also uses "data masking" technology to further pseudonymize usernames associated with reviews.

We may also share your personal information with third parties to whom we may choose to sell, transfer or merge portions of our business or assets. We may also seek to acquire or merge with other businesses.

We may also share your personal data with regulatory or judicial authorities if required by law. 

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to process it in accordance with the law. However, these third parties act as separate data controllers with respect to your personal data and we encourage you to review their own privacy policies to understand how they process your personal data.

6. Links to third party sites, plug-ins and applications

This website may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications. Clicking on these links or enabling these connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third party websites and are not responsible for their privacy policies. When you leave our website, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.

7. International transfers

Analytical/performance cookies are set by Google Analytics in connection with the use of our website. As part of this process, certain Technical Data (see section 2. A above) about you may be transferred to the United States. This transfer of data is governed by a transfer agreement that complies with the European Commission's model.  

Otherwise, we do not transfer your personal data to anyone outside the European Economic Area (EEA). If, by way of exception, we should transfer your personal data outside the EEA, we will ensure an adequate level of protection and that this transfer is carried out in accordance with the legal requirements for data protection.

 

8. How do we protect your personal data?

We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, unauthorized use or access, modification or disclosure. 

We have procedures in place to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any relevant regulatory authority of a breach where we are legally required to do so.

9. How long do we keep your personal data?

We keep your personal data only for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it and to enable us to meet any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or reporting requirements. 

In particular, data from third parties or publicly available sources, as well as customer data (as referred to in Section 2. B of this policy), is retained for the duration of the contractual relationship between Better World and its customer.

We may retain your personal data for a longer period of time in the event of a complaint or if we reasonably believe that there is a risk of litigation related to our relationship with you.

In determining the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes by other means, the potential risk of harm resulting from the unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, and applicable legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or other requirements. 

10. Your Rights

You have the right to request access to your personal data, which allows you to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to check that we are processing it lawfully. You may also request the correction of any inaccurate or out-of-date data we process about you, as well as the erasure of your personal data. You can request the restriction of processing. You may also object to the processing of your personal data. In certain circumstances, you can also request that we transfer your personal data to a third party. Finally, if we process your personal data on the basis of the consent you have provided, you are free to withdraw this consent at any time.

You will not be charged a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is manifestly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. We may also refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.

You also have the right to file a complaint with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL). 

11. What we may need from you

We may ask you for specific information to help us confirm your identity and to ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to anyone who does not have a right to receive it.
